About our trainer credentials

Thiagi Group — Certified Facilitator

  • Who/what: The Thiagi Group (founded by Sivasailam “Thiagi” Thiagarajan) is known for research-backed interactive training techniques and a large library of ready-to-use learning games used to drive engagement, practice, and transfer. The Thiagi Group+1

  • Certification overview: Certified Facilitators are trained to design and run activity-based sessions (problem-solving, strategic planning, debriefing, etc.). Certification has historically involved completing a certification workshop and an approved application activity.

  • Why it matters for clients:

    • Workshops that do, not just tell—participants apply new skills through structured activities and rapid debriefs.

    • Faster adoption for change initiatives because facilitation emphasizes inclusion, voice, and co-creation—not lecture. The Thiagi Group+1

How we apply it at WAEI: We use Thiagi-style activities in AI in Teaching & Training, TBL in CLIL, Train-the-Trainer, and Change Management workshops to boost participation, feedback quality, and on-the-job transfer.

IDI — Certified/Qualified Administrator

  • Who/what: The Intercultural Development Inventory (IDI) is a validated assessment of intercultural competence used worldwide by universities, corporations, and NGOs; it’s built around the Intercultural Development Continuum (IDC). idiinventory.com+1

  • Certification overview: To purchase/administer the IDI and debrief results, professionals complete the IDI Qualifying Seminar and become IDI Qualified Administrators (a.k.a. Certified Administrators). Training covers theory, scoring/interpretation, and guided coaching at individual and group levels.

  • Why it matters for clients:

    • Establishes a baseline of intercultural capability for teams, programs, or cohorts; supports targeted development plans and re-assessment.

    • Underpins our intercultural communication and global classroom/team workshops with an evidence-based framework (rooted in DMIS/IDC). IDRInstitute

How we apply it at WAEI: We use the IDI to inform intercultural communication workshops, tailor faculty/trainer coaching, and align CLIL/international programs with concrete developmental goals and measurable outcomes.

Fit with WAEI’s objectives (quick view)

  • Program design & evaluation: Thiagi methods → higher engagement & practice opportunities; IDI → measurable growth targets and progress checks.

  • Technology integration: Results (IDI profiles, activity analytics) can feed LMS/LXP dashboards for continuous improvement.

  • Corporate & HE training: Credentials credibly support change management, intercultural teaming, and teaching/learning excellence in bilingual JP/EN contexts.

WAEI trainers hold: Certified Facilitator (The Thiagi Group) and IDI Qualified/Certified Administrator (Intercultural Development Inventory)—credentials enabling us to deliver interactive, research-based workshops and evidence-based intercultural assessments and coaching.
